چکیده

Advancements in internal combustion technology, such as efficiency improvements and the usage of new complex fuels, are often coupled with developments suitable numerical tools for predicting dynamic behavior sprays. Therefore, this work presents a Eulerian multi-fluid model specialized dense evaporating liquid fuel The introduced was implemented within open-source OpenFOAM library, which is constantly gaining popularity both industrial academic settings. it represents an ideal framework development. presented employs classes method advanced interfacial momentum transfer models. droplet breakup considered using enhanced WAVE model, where mass taken from parent droplets distributed among child triangular distribution. Furthermore, thermal moving parabolic temperature profile effective conductivity approach. This includes uncertainty estimation analysis (for spatial temporal resolutions) developed solver. solver validated against two ECN Spray A conditions (evaporating non-evaporating). Overall, results show capability to successfully predict sprays selected operating conditions.

Eulerian quadrature-based moment models for dilute polydisperse evaporating sprays

Dilute liquid sprays can be modeled at the mesoscale using a kinetic equation, namely the Williams-Boltzmann equation, containing terms for spatial transport, evaporation and fluid drag. The most common method for simulating the Williams-Boltzmann equation uses Lagrangian particle tracking wherein a finite ensemble of numerical “parcels” provides a statistical estimate of the joint surface area...

Numerical Analysis of Eulerian Multi-fluid Models in the Context of Kinetic Formulations for Dilute Evaporating Sprays

The purpose of this article is the analysis and the development of Eulerian multi-fluid models to describe the evolution of the mass density of evaporating liquid sprays. First, the classical multi-fluid model developed in [Laurent and Massot, Combust. Theor. Model. 5 (2001) 537–572] is analyzed in the framework of an unsteady configuration without dynamical nor heating effects, where the evapo...

Computations of Turbulent Evaporating Sprays

A computational study of turbulent evaporating sprays is reported. The major focus is to study the structure of turbulent evaporating sprays and to examine the sensitivity of their vaporization behavior to transient liquid-phase processes. Three models considered to represent these processes are the thin-skin, infinite-diffusion, and diffusionlimit models. Favre-averaged equations with a k-s-g ...

Turbulent Combustion of Polydisperse Evaporating Sprays with Droplet Crossing: Eulerian Modeling and Validation in the Infinite Knudsen Limit

The accurate simulation of the dynamics of polydisperse evaporating sprays in unsteady gaseous flows with large-scale vortical structures is both a crucial issue for industrial applications and a challenge for modeling and scientific computing. The difficulties encountered by the usual Lagrangian approaches make the use of Eulerian models attractive, aiming at a lower cost and an easier couplin...
